FAQs

  • Q: Is MerchantAssist a credit card processor?
A: No. MerchantAssist is a business services company that assists merchants in securing savings on their everyday business expenses. MerchantAssist has partnered with Verisave, an independent auditing company to identify and secure savings on credit & debit card processing fees.
  • Q: How can MerchantAssist reduce my payment processing fees?
A: Working with our partner, Verisave, we will conduct a comprehensive audit of your merchant statements to identify excess fees and processing inefficiencies. We will then work to eliminate and reduce excess fees and optimize processes to ensure remaining fees are as low as possible.
  • Q: How long does a merchant account audit take?
A: An audit typically takes 5 business days.
  • Q: How are the savings measured?
A: Once we have completed an audit of your payment processor statements, we will establish baseline rates to illustrate the current fee structure. After implementation of the recommended savings strategies, we will then compare the baseline rates to the newly adjusted rates to determine your savings.
  • Q: Who do you bill for your services?
A: Our fee is paid by our customers AFTER the savings are confirmed each month.
  • Q: How much savings will the audit produce?
A: On average our customers enjoy savings of 25-30% on their credit card processing fees.
  • Q: How is MerchantAssist compensated?
A: We share a percentage of the measurable savings you realize, and only after you receive them from your Payment Processor.
  • Q: Can we maintain our existing bank and payment processor relationships if we work with you?
A: Yes. You do not need to switch banks or payment processors. We will identify and implement savings while working with your current bank and payment processor. If you would prefer to make a change, we would be happy to advise you in that process.
  • Q: What can MerchantAssist do for me that my payment processor is not doing?
A: Save you money. It all comes down to incentives and knowledge - payment processors are not incentivized to optimize your payment processing fees and they may be unaware of savings opportunities that exist for your business. Our compensation model is based solely upon a percentage of your realized savings so we are incentivized to save you as much as possible. Our knowledgeable Verisave auditors have extensive industry experience in areas many processors do not.
  • Q. How secure is the environment you use for transmission of my payment processing statements?
    A. MerchantAssist utilizes SendSafely for message transmission. Your information is encrypted before it ever leaves your machine. SendSafely employs OpenPGP encryption with AES-256, widely recognized as one of the most reliable and proven encryption protocols available today. We also employ multi-factor authentication for receipt of your statement transmissions before allowing our auditors access to your sent items.
